  • Future Challenges of M2M Technology

  • The most important ability that humans have is being able to experience, learn, and make predictions and decisions based on that knowledge. Once electronic components become able to learn from the past (context-aware), function together (connected), make future predictions and act on them (computing), they will form a connected context computing net, which is expected to be an important technological development over the coming decades. In the near future, trillions of smart sensors and devices will be able to connect and interact automatically with minimal human intervention. Our living environments will improve dramatically once machines can take the place of humans in decision-making processes. In order to overcome the challenges of M2M, we have introduced a strategy based on “Context, Connectedness, and Computation” that is applied to smart living. The four most important M2M technologies that we intend to explore are: Green Sensing Platforms (GSP), Autonomous Reconfigurable Connectivity (ARC), Context Analysis and Management (CAM), and Smart Service and Applications (SSA).
