Prof. Zhang has been dedicated to research in intelligent robotics, embodied AI, and multimodal large language models (Multimodal LLMs), while actively promoting applications in Industry 4.0 and smart healthcare. About

Jianwei Zhang is a Professor and Director of the Institute of Technical Aspects of Multimodal Systems (TAMS), Department of Informatics at the University of Hamburg. His research interests include multimodal information processing (visual, auditory, tactile, etc.), multimodal computational models, cognitive sensor fusion for robot perception, robot learning architecture, dexterous manipulation, bi-manual robot assembly of 3D aggregates, etc.

He has published over 800 papers and books, and has received multiple best paper awards. He served as the General Chair of the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) in Hamburg in 2015, etc. As a leader in the field, he has spearheaded 10+ large-scale international R&D projects and played a pivotal scientific role in incubating two Unicorn startups.
